Essential FAQ's

Below is a list of FAQ's that our members and visitors ask.

Q. How do I register?
A. You can register an account on the Essential Communications network by click on the Register Button

Q. How can I apply for Staff?
A. You can apply to become a member of the Essential Team by emailing us at apps@ecnchat.com with the position(s) you are interested in applying for. Please be patient someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

Q. How can I get an Essential Sponsored Chatroom(ESC)?
A. At this time Essential is offering free Supported Chatrooms on a first come first serve basis. In the future there will be a fee applied with getting a ESC chatroom. ESC chatroom's never close and are given personal support by the ECN staff where as UCR's don't get support from staff and they close when everyone leaves the room. All ESC rooms can be distinguished by the gold hammer besides the room name in the room list. You can apply for a ESC room either on the forum or by emailing apps@ecnchat.com with the following information:

  • *Room Owner
  • *Category
  • *Room Name
  • *Topic
  • *Onjoin Message
  • *Owner password
  • *Host Password
  • *How many chatters you currently have

Q. Where can I find a Script to join chat?
A. You can check the scripts page on the menu at the top of the page or you can join the forums and ask there. We also have a few Scripting rooms open in the Computing Area.

Q. What browsers does ECN support?
A. Essential supports and works on all browsers, if you are using IE you might have to change your compatibility view in order to see the chat screen better.

Q. What if my question is not listed here?
A. You can always post your question in the support section on the forums or join HelpDesk


The Essential Team is split into different departments and structures and can always be identified by the Essential Phoenix . Below is a listing of the team and staff structure here at Essential.

Admin - Network Administrators run the overall network

Sysop - System Operators serve as department managers and staff managers.

Guide - Guidance Operators serve as the help and support operators of the network.

Bot - Bots are automatic robots set to monitor or complete certain functions on the network.

Host - Hosts in the official Essential Rooms serve as chat room helpers and monitors.
